Site Rating & Thread Labels

Players must be 18 years or older.

Players view and participate in our site at their own discretion and risk.
OOC is separate from IC. Characters engaged in immoral, illegal, or dangerous acts are entirely fictional and do not represent the views of Staff or players. Our site includes a variety of post labels that should be used to appropriately mark your post for content. If you see a post-label, continue reading at your own discretion. There is always a risk that a topic may not be labelled or that we don't have a label for a specific type of 'trigger'.

We are rated 3-3-3 on the RPG Rating Scale:
RPG Rating 3 3 3
  • Swearing and mature language is allowed.
  • Sexual content is allowed. Only Adult characters may participate in sexual content.
  • Detailed violence and gore is allowed (in-character only).
Conduct
Be respectful and kind. Our community should be a fun place for everyone to enjoy.

OOC is separate from IC; disagreements between players should not be taken in-character and vice versa.

We encourage players to resolve disputes privately without staff involvement. Staff will not intervene in situations / tensions / relationships that originated before involved parties joined the site. Players can block other players using the Advanced Blocking feature on-site and block each other in discord. Please tell the other person if you dont want them to join your threads. Staff will intervene in situations that are recent, relevant to the site, and break our code of conduct.
Accounts
Players must register a Player Account to join.
Each character uses a separate Character Account, which will be linked to their Player Account.
The Player Account must be listed as the primary account for linking.
Activity
We strongly encourage characters to post twice per week. Roleplaying is a collaborative game and the story doesn't progress without posting. Consistent posting allows sustained muse and plot progression. A quick, short post to move things along is better than waiting multiple weeks for a lengthy reply. Roleplaying should be a fun hobby, not a chore. Players should post at a pace that is fun, healthy and sustainable.

Our game rules use the terms "Active" or "Inactive" referring to a character's account status.

Characters must make 1 IC post every 30 days to remain Active.

Characters can reactivate their account by making a normal IC post on the forum. This will automatically make the account Active and does not need Staff assistance. Characters can set their account to Inactive by going to Join/Activate
Posting
We do not have a word-count, but please write enough action and dialogue for your partner to reply.

Do not post WIP "work-in-progress" posts, place-savers or "bump" posts. If you accidentally double-post, please post in #support in our discord so we can remove the post.

Posts must be in 3rd-person, with proper grammar and punctuation.

No power-play, god-modding, meta-gaming, or retconning. Avoid post-stacking / dialogue splicing.
Posting Order
We do not enforce posting order. Players should try to avoid repeatedly skipping a character in a thread. If multiple days have passed, it may be appropriate to skip.

For group threads with lots of characters, we use "round-posting". For each "round" of roleplay, all the characters in the thread will post 1 time, in any order, until all (or most of) the characters have posted. Then the cycle will repeat. A deadline might be listed for each round to help everyone post on time. If you fail to post by the deadline, you get skipped and the next round will start automatically.
Liquid Time
Characters may be in multiple threads at once. We assume each event is happening at a different time in the character’s storyline. When making a new IC thread, set an IC date for the thread. The IC date does not have to match the OOC date; it can be back-dated or future-dated IC as long as it doesn’t interfere with other threads.

Players should be mindful of travel times and review the IC weather for the IC-date they are posting.
Read-Only Threads
We allow "Read-Only" threads. This is a thread that might involve only one character doing something (great for exploring backstories, dreams, or events that happen alone) or it could be an OOC post summarizing an event that players OOCly agreed happened. Can be long or short. Please mark Read-Only posts with [RO] in the title. All characters who are present should reply to the thread so that it appears in their thread log.
Graphics and Media
Artwork/images on character accounts should pertain to your character (avatars, profile images, etc).

Images should be your own creation, art created for you, used with permission from the original artist, or through creative commons (ie stock images, joke memes, etc). Ripping a copyrighted image off the internet without permission is not acceptable.

Images may not be sexually explicit or include nudity.

Do not embed video / audio players anywhere on-site.

We discourage the use of moving or flashing images on the forum.

We do not allow AI generated artwork (and obviously do not use AI to post or roleplay for you).
AVATARS
Maximum avatar size is 250px by 300px.
POSTING TABLES
Posting tables are optional, and use HTML and CSS for formatting.
Save your table codes in your UserCP for easy access.
  • Must be aesthetically pleasing (no blinding colors).
  • Text must have enough opacity and contrast to be easily readable.
  • Text must be at least 11 or 12px font (depending on font choice), big enough to be easily readable.
  • Do NOT use glow, blurred, or drop-shadowed text. It's hard to read.
  • Do NOT exceed 800px width.
PROFILE CODING
Customizing your profile is optional.

Character profiles use HTML coding in the text areas. Players may use code inside the text areas to spruce up their profile to add images, tables, format text, etc as long as it does not alter the default site skin colors or layout. To fully customize profile colors on a Character account, please purchase a Premium Account.

Player profiles can use coding (HTML & CSS) to customize the colors of the profile and to add customized sections to the profile. Sample code for player profiles can be found here. Anyone may customize their player profile (a premium account is not needed for player profiles). The customizable areas of the player profile will only unlock after setting the account as a "Player" account via Join/Activate.
THREAD LOGS
Character profiles have a built-in threadlog. Any IC threads you post in are automatically added to your log. Players can edit the description of the thread by viewing their profile, scroll to the threadlog, and click in the description area of the thread in the list.
ACCOUNT SWITCHING
Players are required to link their accounts and use their Player account as the Primary account. Link your accounts by hovering over User CP and selecting "Link Accounts".

To quickly switch between linked accounts, hover over your account name in the top menu bar. Click the name of the account you'd like to log in. This works on most pages of the site.
USER TAGGING & PRIVATE MESSAGING
These features are intentionally disabled. Please utilize discord to message and tag others.
Advanced Blocking
Advanced Blocking allows players to hide content from specific users that may be triggering. Blocking can be disruptive to your experience on the site, so use wisely. To enable blocking, log into your Player Account and visit your UserCP. You'll find "Advanced Blocking" in the menu. Adding a block to your player account will add an identical block to all your linked accounts for convenience.
  • Soft Block is one way: used to for you to hide content from a specific character. Use this if a character's backstory, design, artwork, etc is triggering. You can bypass the warning with a click (should you choose to view the content). The other person will still be able to view your content.

  • Hard Block goes both ways: used to hide content from a specific player and all their accounts. You cannot see their content and they cannot see yours. There is no bypass. If someone has a hard block, please do not join their threads unless it is absolutely necessary (ie a mandatory meeting or event).

  • Guest Block is used to hide your content from guests and unverified new members. Only active, established members of our community can access your content.

Experience Claim
The Experience Claim is found in your UserCP while logged into a Character account. This is how character's improve their health, stats, unlock spells, and select / progress their trade. At the bottom of the page is a list of roleplay activities that can be claimed. Most Activities require an IC thread participation but there are a few OOC rewards, claimable by selecting the "OOC" toggle at the top of the activity list.
  • A thread must be finished (character exited) before claiming.

  • "Read Only" threads may claim the "Read Only" reward if the post is at least 300 words but cannot claim any of the other activities. If you replied to a read-only just to state your character was present, you cannot claim the reward. Only the person who wrote the first post in an RO can claim it.

  • For Bug Report rewards, please wait to claim until Kori confirms it's an actual bug.

  • Do not "double dip" claiming OOC rewards. Example, you report 1 bug, so you choose 1 character to get that OOC reward.

  • An "All Welcome" thread must be open to everyone to qualify as AW. If an event is only open to specific characters or members of a specific faction (ie a faction meeting or raid), it is not AW. The reward is given to those who "reply" to the thread, not the thread-starter.

  • A "lonely" thread is any non-private thread that has been waiting on a reply for more than 7 days. The person who replies to the lonely thread can get the reward, not the thread-starter. Example: A thread open for anyone of a specific faction but it wasn't private. The thread cannot be private / intended for you originally.

  • "Abandoned Thread" reward can be claimed if the thread must be abandoned due to the partner not posting for 30 days. It cannot be not your turn to post. The partner must be tagged at least 1 time in discord at least 7 days before claiming. Don't harass the other player, just 1 tag is fine so they know they have a thread. If the thread was not private it must still be posted in discord and advertised so others have a chance to join ( ie say "AW thread" or "anyone in the area may join"). If you claim abandoned, you must post to the thread either exiting (preferred) or oocly stating "abandoned" if there is no way for your character to ICly exit. You cannot continue the thread after that.

  • A character can claim the Roleplay Challenge (RPC) 1 time per challenge. They are free to participate in an RPC more than once but can only get the reward once per specific RPC. Example, a character paritcipates in two threads for RPC #2 but they can only claim it 1 time. Next month they participate in RPC #3 and can claim it 1 time again since it's a new challenge.
